The story

From a cruise-ship idea to a touring institution

Live from Laurel Canyon began as an idea in the summer of 2012, after Brian finished a three-month stint performing on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean. He researched and wrote the narration for the show, then teamed up with his partner Mike Florio to bring it to audiences. It starts with The Mamas & the Papas’ “California Dreamin’” and ends with the Eagles’ “Hotel California,” careening through the hits of the 1960s and ’70s — part storytelling, part musical performance, and still amazing fans of this timeless music.

The long version — how the narration came together and where the show has gone since — is at livefromlaurelcanyon.com/thestory.

Songs & Stories of American Folk Rock

From The Mamas & the Papas’ “California Dreamin’” to the Eagles’ “Hotel California.”
